Jordi Delgado

Jordi Delgado is a Research Fellow in the Department of Mathematics at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), affiliated with the GAPCOMB and GrupsBCN research groups. He holds a PhD in Mathematics from UPC (2017) under Prof. Enric Ventura’s supervision, specializing in geometric and algorithmic group theory. His work focuses on free groups, free-abelian by free groups, and their algorithmic properties, particularly using Stallings automata. Delgado has held postdoctoral positions at institutions including the University of the Basque Country and the Centre of Mathematics of the University of Porto. He is currently based at the Escola Politècnica Superior d’Enginyeria de Manresa.

Education includes a PhD in Mathematics (2017), MSc in Advanced Mathematics (2011), and a 5-year Licentiate in Mathematics (2009) from UNED. His research explores subgroup configurations, decision problems, and algorithmic applications in groups, with notable contributions to the intersection problem for Droms RAAGs and relative order concepts.

Delgado has received prestigious awards such as the María Zambrano grant (2022) and the Ferran Sunyer i Balaguer Foundation Award (2017). His publications span topics like Stallings automata applications, subgroup intersections, and algorithmic recognition of group extensions. He actively participates in academic events and serves as an editor for SCM/Notícies and a reviewer for Mathematical Reviews.
