Jordan L. Austin is a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Counseling Department at Lenoir-Rhyne University's Asheville campus. She holds a Ph.D. in Counseling and Counselor Education from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, an Ed.S./M.S. in Couple and Family Counseling from the same institution, and a B.S. in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Her clinical expertise includes trauma, grief, anxiety disorders, and interpersonal relationships, with specialized training in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and trauma-focused approaches. Austin's research centers on counselor development, particularly examining how attachment strategies influence therapist-client and supervisory relationships.
Professional roles include serving as the department's CACREP Liaison and co-advisor for the Lambda Rho Upsilon chapter of Chi Sigma Iota. She maintains active certifications as a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) and Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC).
