Dr. Jordan B Kinder is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication Studies at Wilfrid Laurier University's Faculty of Arts. A Métis scholar from northern British Columbia and citizen of the Métis Nation of Alberta, his work bridges media studies and environmental humanities. He focuses on infrastructure politics, energy transitions in Canada, and decolonial approaches to resource governance through the lens of energy humanities.
- Education: PhD (English and Film Studies, University of Alberta, 2019)
- Previous Affiliations: Postdoctoral fellow at McGill University (2020-2022) and Harvard University's Mahindra Humanities Center (2022-2023)
His research examines the cultural politics of energy systems and environmental media representations, with particular emphasis on settler-colonial legacies in Canadian resource extraction. As a SSHRC and FRQSC postdoctoral fellow, he has explored intersections between infrastructure studies, petrocultures, and Indigenous sovereignty.
