Jonne Niemi is a Researcher at the Faculty of Science and Engineering at Åbo Akademi University, working in the Laboratory of Molecular Science and Engineering Technologies for a Sustainable Future. His research focuses on high-temperature corrosion mechanisms in industrial boilers, particularly analyzing ash deposits and their interactions with materials under varying thermal conditions. He holds a D.Sc. (Tech) and M.Sc. (Tech) in engineering.
Key research areas include temperature gradient effects on superheater deposits, corrosion dynamics in recovery boilers, and flue gas composition impacts. His work addresses challenges in biomass and waste incineration systems, aiming to improve material durability and energy efficiency.
- Education: Doctor of Science (Tech), Master of Science (Tech)
- Grants: Principal Investigator of the Research Council of Finland-funded project "New insights on the effects of temperature gradients on high-temperature corrosion" (2022–2025).
Publications highlight experimental and computational studies on deposit aging, corrosion prevention, and material behavior under extreme conditions. His findings contribute to sustainable energy systems by optimizing boiler designs and reducing maintenance costs.
Laboratory activities involve developing methods for high-temperature corrosion testing and simulating real-world thermal environments. Future work focuses on scaling experimental insights to industrial applications.
