Jonathan T. Elliott holds dual academic roles as Assistant Professor of Orthopaedics at the Geisel School of Medicine and Adjunct Assistant Professor of Engineering at Dartmouth College. His research focuses on enhancing intraoperative tumor detection through molecular imaging, photodynamic therapy, and augmented reality visualization. He collaborates with Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center’s Neurosurgery Department and the Center for Surgical Innovation.
Education: BMSc Hons (Medical Sciences, University of Western Ontario, 2008); PhD (Medical Biophysics, University of Western Ontario, 2013).
Research interests include optics in medicine, multimodal imaging, and tracer kinetic modeling. He has pioneered quantitative scatter imaging and developed non-invasive hemorrhage detection methods using machine learning integration of electrical impedance and near-infrared spectroscopy.
Awards: Canadian Institutes of Health Research Postdoctoral Fellowship (2013).
Notable contributions include FDA-approved surgical navigation tools and trauma technology innovations. His lab work involves collaborations with Mayo Clinic researchers on early bleed detection systems using electrical impedance tomography (EIT).
