Dr Jonathan Staggs is a Lecturer in Entrepreneurship at the University of Queensland Business School, with a fractional appointment as Research Manager at the Emergency Medicine Foundation. He holds a PhD in Business, MBA, and BA (Hons) in Political Science/International Relations. His research focuses on institutional entrepreneurship, entrepreneurial ecosystems, and the intersection of place, policy, and innovation. Key areas include public policy analysis, health systems resilience, and energy sector governance.

He explores how actors and institutions sustain entrepreneurial ecosystems, with recent projects addressing decolonizing business education and deep listening practices in Indigenous contexts.
Teaching emphasizes case study research and ethical foundations in business strategy. He leads postgraduate program design and has developed courses focused on stakeholder engagement and strategic decision-making under uncertainty. His work integrates corporate experience from senior roles at Gaba Corporation, a Japanese education company, where he managed training, recruitment, and quality assurance.
