Jonathan Scott Perry

Dr. Jonathan Scott Perry is an Associate Professor of History at the University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee campus. He holds degrees from Ohio University (double BAs in History and Latin) and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (MA and PhD in History).

His research focuses on classical scholarship in Fascist Italy, Latin epigraphy, ancient sport terminology, women in Greek athletics, and the Roman Collegia. He has authored four books, including studies on Roman institutions and the impact of historical concepts on 20th- and 21st-century film culture.

Recent publications include analyses of Roman elites in Pompeya, Cassius Dio's Senate interpretations, and editorial contributions to historical textbooks. Dr. Perry emphasizes the synergy between teaching and scholarship, fostering collaborations with students and colleagues.
