Associate Professor Jonathan Paul is an Associate Professor at the University of Newcastle, affiliated with the School of Medicine and Public Health and the Hunter Medical Research Institute (HMRI). He leads the Myometrial Research Group and the Reproductive Nanomedicine Program within the Mothers and Babies Research Program (MBRP). His research focuses on developing nanoparticle-based therapeutics to target the uterus, aiming to prevent preterm birth and improve maternal and neonatal health outcomes.
Education: PhD (Biological Science) and BBiotech (Honours) from the University of Newcastle.
Research Interests: Reproductive medicine, targeted drug delivery systems, preterm birth mechanisms, and uterine physiology. His work emphasizes nanoparticles targeting the oxytocin receptor to enhance drug specificity and safety. Recent advancements include patents on uterine-targeted delivery systems and collaborations on nucleic acid therapeutics.
Grants and Funding: Over $2.85M in current grants, including NHMRC Ideas grants and NSW Health funding. Notable achievements include the 2015 Presidential New Investigator Award.
