Jonathan Oldfield is a Professor in Russian Environmental Studies at the University of Birmingham's School of Geography, Earth and Environmental Sciences. His research focuses on Soviet and Russian understandings of physical natural systems, with three core strands: Soviet climate science legacies, geoengineering in Soviet/Russian contexts, and Russian engagements with the Anthropocene. His work is funded by the AHRC, ESRC, Leverhulme Trust, and British Academy.

Research Interests:
