Jonathan Nelson is a Lecturer in Experimental Cognitive Psychology at the University of Surrey. His research examines the psychology of information acquisition, mathematical modeling of uncertainty, and game-based learning. He studies perception-cognition relationships and develops educational games to teach probabilistic reasoning.
Research Focus: Investigates human inquiry patterns, decision-making under uncertainty, and the neural bases of information valuation. Current projects analyze how people seek interpretable information and generalize knowledge in complex decision spaces.
Teaching: Coordinates Cognitive Psychology 1 and contributes to Further Statistics courses.
Collaborations: Works with international teams on DFG-funded projects about information valuation models and neural mechanisms of economic decision-making.
