He also serves as Assistant Dean for Strategic and Student Initiatives. Dr. Meyers earned his B.S. in Chemistry (ACS-certified) from the University of West Georgia (2004) and his Ph.D. in Biological Chemistry from Indiana University (2012), where he worked under FDA peptide analog pioneer Dr. Richard DiMarchi.

Dr. Meyers' research focuses on modifying natural peptides to enhance pharmacological properties, particularly investigating links between cancer and diabetes. His lab conducts two main project types: structure-activity relationship studies of the hormone preptin, and development of new biosynthesis methodologies for aggregation-prone peptides. His doctoral work on insulin analog carcinogenicity resulted in a patent licensed to an international pharmaceutical company, with analogs currently in animal trials.
