Dr. Jonathan L. Reed is a Professor of Philosophy and Religion at the University of La Verne, affiliated with the Philosophy and Religious Studies department in the College of Arts and Sciences. His research focuses on early Christian archaeology, with fieldwork in Israel, Greece, and Rome. He has authored/co-authored six books including Excavating Jesus (translated into six languages), and his work examines Jesus' teachings within first-century Jewish and Roman contexts. More recently, he studies Native American religions, particularly the Lakota Ghost Dance and indigenous religious adaptation in modern contexts.
