Dr. Jonathan Howell is an Associate Professor in the Department of Linguistics at Montclair State University, affiliated with the College of Humanities and Social Sciences. His research focuses on prosody, particularly the role of stress, intonation, and rhythm in determining meaning in English, with a long-term goal of developing computationally effective models for language technologies and understanding human speaker pragmatics. He also investigates scientific literacy, including numeracy and information literacy in non-STEM disciplines.
