Jonathan Gander

Dr Jonathan Gander is the Head of the School of Creative Industries at LASALLE College of the Arts. With over 20 years of experience in academia and industry, he holds a PhD in Cultural and Creative Industries from King's College London, an MA in Business Administration from Westminster University, and a BA in Political Theory and Institutions from the University of Sheffield.

His academic management roles include Director of Employability at the University of East Anglia’s Business School, Director of Executive Education at London College of Fashion, and inaugural Head of the Department of Creative and Cultural Industries at Kingston School of Art. He has launched programs blending creative practice with management skills and established a student-led creative agency at Kingston School of Art.

Gander’s research focuses on strategy and innovation in creative industries, including business model sustainability, digital innovation, and virtual reality in education. He has authored Strategic Analysis: A Creative and Cultural Industries Perspective (Routledge, 2017) and contributed to leading journals like Long Range Planning and Journal of Cleaner Production.

His consultancy work spans strategy workshops for management teams in fashion, design, and entertainment sectors across New York, Moscow, London, and Vienna. He has also led a UK Department of Trade and Industry-funded Knowledge Transfer Partnership project for a shoe retailer.

Gander retains strong ties to industry, having previously worked in business development for a London-based fashion SME. His current research emphasizes sustainable business models and the strategic challenges facing creative enterprises in global markets.
