Jonathan Freundlich is an Associate Professor (Maître de Conférences) at the Observatoire astronomique de Strasbourg, France. His research focuses on galaxy evolution, dark matter haloes, molecular gas observations, and star formation dynamics. He holds a PhD from Université Pierre et Marie Curie (2015) and has held research positions at institutions including the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and Tel Aviv University. His work combines observational radio astronomy (e.g., NOEMA, ALMA) with theoretical modeling, particularly through the PHIBSS and PHIBSS2 surveys studying molecular gas in high-redshift galaxies. Awards include the Arnold Rosenblum Prize and Arskin Postdoctoral Fellowship. He contributes to SKA science working groups and has developed tools for analyzing galactic dynamics and dark matter profiles.
Education: PhD in Astronomy (2015), MSc in Physics (ENS Paris, 2008), Bachelor’s in Film & Cinema (2010). Teaching includes advanced cosmology courses and physics instruction at multiple levels. Research emphasizes gas dynamics in galaxies, dark matter halo evolution, and ultra diffuse galaxy formation. Key collaborations involve international radio telescope projects and machine learning applications in astronomy (e.g., MINERVA team).
