Jonathan Engle

Dr. Jonathan Engle is a Professor of Physics at Florida Atlantic University (FAU), affiliated with the Department of Physics within the College of Science. He has been at FAU since 2010, progressing from a junior to senior faculty position. His research focuses on quantum gravity, quantum cosmology, black hole physics, and classical general relativity. Engle holds a Ph.D. in Physics from Pennsylvania State University.

Key research interests include loop quantum gravity, spin foam models, and the quantum dynamics of spacetime. He has contributed to foundational aspects of quantum gravity, including the development of the 'proper vertex' amplitude in spin foam models and studies of diffeomorphism covariance in quantum spacetime. His work often bridges the gap between loop quantum gravity and cosmological models, emphasizing symmetry reduction and dynamical constraints.
