Professor Jonathan Clough is a leading academic at Monash University, Faculty of Law, specializing in cybercrime, corporate criminal liability, criminal law, and evidence. He has published extensively on these topics and is currently Director, Higher Degrees by Research, overseeing postgraduate legal education. His work spans both national and international collaborations, including projects with the Australian Research Council and governments in Oceania.
Clough’s research interests include criminal law and procedure, cybercrime, evidence, juries, and corporate wrongdoing. He explores how legal frameworks can adapt to digital challenges and corporate accountability, with a focus on judicial communication, fair trial rights, and digital evidence interpretation. Recent projects address online child exploitation, cybercrime policy in Micronesia, and corporate liability reforms.
His scientific awards include the Gold Medal from the International Society for the Reform of Criminal Law (2017), election as Fellow of the Cambridge Commonwealth Society (1993), and Director of the International Society for the Reform of Criminal Law (2015).
