معرفی
Jonathan Chee is a Research Fellow at The University of Western Australia Medical School's Centre for Respiratory Health and the National Centre of Asbestos Related Disease (NCARD). He currently holds a Cancer Council Western Australia Postdoctoral Fellowship and has established himself as a prominent researcher in cancer immunology, with a specific focus on mesothelioma.
His educational background includes:
- PhD in Autoimmune Diabetes and Immunology from the University of Melbourne (2015)
- BSc (Hons) in Science from the University of Melbourne (2008)
- BBiomedSc in Biomedical Science from the University of Melbourne (2007)
Dr. Chee's research centers on understanding the immunological mechanisms that determine why some mesothelioma patients respond better to immunotherapy and chemotherapy than others. His work integrates mathematical approaches with TCR sequencing to understand individual immune system contributions to therapy success. He develops preclinical models to study immunotherapy-related autoimmunity and creates novel epigenetic targeting tools to improve mesothelioma therapy outcomes. His expertise spans tumor immunology, T cell receptor biology, mouse models for disease, and biomarker development.
Analysis of his publication record shows a consistent focus on T cell immunology in cancer, particularly examining how T cell receptor repertoires and tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes predict and influence immunotherapy response. His work bridges basic immunology with clinical applications in mesothelioma treatment.
His research has been recognized with several prestigious awards:
- Cancer Council Western Australia Postdoctoral Fellowship (2019)
- Early Career Researcher Small Grant (2017)
- Cancer Council WA Suzanne Cavanagh Early Career Investigator Grant (2016)
Dr. Chee serves as an educator, delivering the 'Vaccines to immune checkpoint blockade' lecture for PATH3309. He actively supervises PhD and Honours students while leading key research projects at NCARD, including the murine TCR, mesothelioma-epiCRISPR, and irae projects, and managing essential preclinical models for his research program.
