Jonathan Casper is an Associate Professor and Sport Management Program Coordinator in the Department of Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Management at North Carolina State University's College of Natural Resources. His research focuses on integrating sustainability into sport organizations and understanding the health impacts of sport participation. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Northern Colorado (2004) and has advised over 20 grants totaling $1.7M+, including studies on sport and air quality, youth sport policies, and Latino community recreation. Casper has authored/co-authored over 60 peer-reviewed articles and edited the seminal textbook Sport Management and the Natural Environment: Theory and Practice (2015). His awards include the NC State Green Brick Award (2012) for environmental leadership and Outstanding Advisor (2006). Current research examines pickleball participation among seniors, pandemic-era sport decisions, and the ecological impact of major events.
