Jonathan Alaria

Dr. Jonathan Alaria is a Senior Lecturer in Physics at the University of Liverpool and a member of the Condensed Matter Physics research cluster and the Stephenson Institute for Renewable Energy. His research focuses on developing and characterizing novel semiconductors and quantum materials for energy technologies.

• Education: MEng from Grande École européenne de Chimie, Polymères et Matériaux (2005), PhD in Physics from Trinity College Dublin (2009).

Research Interests:
Combines single crystal growth, epitaxial thin film deposition, and measurement of magnetic, thermal, and electronic transport properties to engineer materials for sustainable technologies. Key areas include multiferroics, magnetocalorics, skyrmion-lattice hosts, correlated oxides, transparent conductors, thermoelectrics, and topological semimetals.

His publications emphasize transparent conducting materials, thermoelectrics, and quantum materials like topological semimetals. Recent work explores data-driven band gap predictions, Kagome intermetallics, and anion-cation ordering in oxides.
