Jonas Schmidt Christensen

Jonas Schmidt Christensen is a PhD Research Fellow at the Department of Sport and Social Sciences, Norwegian School of Sport Sciences, conducting research within the EU Marie Skłodowska-Curie Action Doctoral Training Network in Sport Ethics and Integrity (DAiSI) in partnership with KU Leuven and the International Wheelchair Basketball Federation.

His educational background includes:

• Bachelor's degree in Physical Education from the University of Copenhagen
• Master's degree in Humanities and Social Sport Sciences from the University of Copenhagen

His research develops ethical frameworks for classification systems in Paralympic wheelchair sports (basketball, rugby, tennis), examining tensions between fairness, equality of opportunity, and competitive pragmatism through philosophy of sport and disability theory. This work addresses foundational questions about ability/disability conceptualization and sport's normative structure.

Jonas integrates extensive practical experience from the Paralympic movement:

• Former national goalball coach
• Consultant for the National Paralympic Committee of Denmark specializing in talent development and high-performance systems
• Key organizational roles at Tokyo and Paris Paralympic Games with Team Denmark and the Danish Sports Federation

His primary recognition is the prestigious MSCA Doctoral Fellowship funding his DAiSI research.

Funded by the MSCA fellowship, Jonas contributes to DAiSI's multi-institutional collaboration while leveraging his dual academic-practical expertise. He does not supervise students as a doctoral candidate but shapes future classification policies through his research-practice nexus.
