Jonas Hofstetter

Jonas Hofstetter is a Lecturer and Co-Head of the Research Group at the Lucerne School of Engineering and Architecture (HSLU), affiliated with the Institute of Electrical Engineering IET CC Intelligent Sensors and Networks. His roles include leading research projects in sensor systems and automation.

Education:

• 2004–2007: Dipl. El.-Ing. FH (HSLU)
• 1997–2001: Professional Training as Audio-Video Technician

Research Interests: Sensor networks, computer vision for vehicle classification, robotics, industrial automation, and machine learning applications in engineering. Projects include Intelligent Sensors and Networks, iLux dermatology device, and ToF sensor technology.

Publications: Focused on explainable AI for vehicle classification and CNN architectures. Recent work includes using CNNs for fine-grained vehicle analysis and sensor fusion systems.

Grants/Projects: Leads over 15 projects including Virtual Walk 2024, ReRe Circular Sourcing, and ICARUS Camera-Radar Fusion. Collaborates on robotics, traffic monitoring, and medical device development.

Labs/Teams: Co-head of HSLU's research group developing sensor-driven automation solutions and interdisciplinary engineering tools.
