Jonas Eberle is a PostDoc at the University of Salzburg's Department of Environment & Biodiversity, affiliated with the Evolutionary Zoology and Population Genomics research groups. He holds a Doctorate from the University of Bonn (2017) and a Diploma from Technical University Munich (2009). His work focuses on molecular phylogenetics, phylogeography, and integrative species delimitation in beetles, with projects in Sri Lanka and South Africa. Recent research includes studies on scarab biodiversity, habitat connectivity for forest chafers, and conservation strategies for endangered butterflies using UAV technology.
Key research interests include beetle systematics, evolutionary dynamics, and the application of geometric morphometrics combined with molecular data. Eberle has collaborated internationally, contributing to projects funded by the DFG and GBOL initiatives. His work spans field expeditions in Africa, Asia, and Europe, emphasizing the interplay between genetic and morphological data in taxonomic studies.
Publications highlight advancements in species delimitation methods, phylogenetic analysis of Scarabaeoidea, and conservation ecology. He is part of a multidisciplinary team addressing biodiversity challenges in fragmented habitats and has authored/co-authored over 50 peer-reviewed articles since 2009.
