معرفی
Jon Robson is a Professor of Climate Science at the Department of Meteorology, University of Reading, affiliated with the National Centre for Atmospheric Science (NCAS). His research focuses on regional and global climate variability and prediction, particularly in the Atlantic sector. He leads projects like CANARI (Climate change in the Arctic-North Atlantic region and impacts on the UK) and ALPACA (Advancing long-range prediction of AMOC impacts). He co-chairs the WCRP Decadal Climate Prediction Project (DCPP) and has contributed to major initiatives such as ACSIS and DYNAMOC. His work emphasizes understanding the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC), decadal predictability, and ocean-atmosphere interactions. He supervises PhD students like Niamh O'Callaghan and collaborates on global research networks.
Key research interests include ocean dynamics, climate prediction models, and the impact of multidecadal variability on regional climates. His studies often address the predictability of phenomena like the North Atlantic Oscillation and the role of anthropogenic forcing in climate trends. Projects such as WISTEREA (Wind Stilling and Energy in Europe and Asia) and TipESM (Tipping Points in Earth System Models) highlight his focus on emerging climate challenges. His contributions bridge observational data and high-resolution modeling to improve climate forecasts and understand long-term changes.
Professional roles include managing large-scale collaborative projects and advancing decadal prediction systems. His research has been published widely in journals like Geophysical Research Letters, Nature, and Climate Dynamics, reflecting his expertise in both theoretical and applied climatology.
