Jon Micah Tyson

Jon Micah Tyson is a Professor and Co-Chair of the Art + Design Department at Belhaven University, where he has been part of the faculty since 2008. He teaches courses such as Perspectives on Creativity & Art, Animation, Character & Object Design, and Portfolio & Resume Development. His expertise spans Tradigital art, Digital Media, Graphic Design, and broader artistic disciplines.

Education: B.S. (Mississippi College), 2D Animation Certification (Art Institute of Pittsburgh), M.Ed. in Art Education (Mississippi College), and M.F.A. in Graphic Design (Mississippi College).

Research & Professional Activities: Co-founder of Tortugas Games LLC (a tabletop game studio), consultant for Madison County Schools Career & Technical Center, and co-host of MERGE Conference. Key presentations include 'Authentic Process' (2018) and 'The Art of Gaming' (2019) at MERGE, as well as contributions to Cryongenic Studios and PAX Unplugged.

Leadership Roles: S.P.E.C. Liaison, Jury Member for Madison County Career & Technical Center, and ongoing involvement with the Southern Mississippi Programmers Guild.
