Jon Malax is a Senior Lecturer in Conducting at Leeds Conservatoire since 2014, specializing in orchestral conducting and music direction. He holds a BA (Hons) in Music (Classical) and has taught courses such as Contextual Studies: Musical Direction. His career spans prestigious institutions in Spain and the UK, including roles as Music Director of the Basque Youth Orchestra (2016–present) and Solihull Symphony Orchestra (2013–present). He has conducted renowned ensembles like the Orquesta Radio Televisión Española, Manchester Camerata, and Liverpool Mozart Orchestra.

Malax is a fervent advocate for new music, performing world premieres such as Simon Dobson's Trombone Concerto with the RNCM Brass Band.
