Jon Binnie is a Reader in Human Geography at Manchester Metropolitan University, affiliated with the Department of Geography within the School of Natural Sciences. His research focuses on the intersections of sexuality, space, and politics, with a particular emphasis on LGBTQ+ activism, urban geographies, and transnational solidarities. He holds a BA (First Class) in Geography from Durham University (1990) and a PhD from University College London (1997) titled 'A Geography of Urban Desires: Sexual Culture and the City.'
