معرفی
Dr. Jolien Creighton is a Professor in the Department of Physics at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM), specializing in gravitational wave astronomy and general relativity. He is an active member of the LIGO Scientific Collaboration (LSC), contributing to advanced gravitational wave detection efforts. His research focuses on analyzing data from the LIGO and Virgo detectors to study cosmic phenomena like black hole mergers, supernovae, and gravitational wave emission mechanisms.
Creighton holds a BSc from the University of Calgary (1992) and a PhD from the University of Waterloo (1996). After postdoctoral work at Caltech, he joined UWM in 1999 as a research associate and became faculty in 2002, advancing to Professor in 2013. He has led the LSC internal review committee for the burst group and serves as the LIGO/LSC Algorithm Library librarian.
His research interests include gravitational wave signal analysis, detector data interpretation, and multi-messenger astronomy. His work is supported by six NSF grants, including PHY-0701817 and PHY-0600953. Key contributions include developing algorithms for gravitational wave detection and advancing understanding of neutron star equations of state and cosmic event correlations.
Creighton’s publications span topics such as gravitational wave parameter estimation, template bank design, and searches for cosmic strings and dark matter. He collaborates internationally and actively contributes to the next generation of gravitational wave observatories.
