Dr. Jolanda Hessels is an Associate Professor at Erasmus School of Economics, serving as Head of the Strategy Economics group and Deputy Director of the Department of Applied Economics. She is a Research Fellow at the Tinbergen Institute and a member of ERIM. As academic director of the Master Specialization in Strategy Economics, she focuses on entrepreneurship, including entry, exit, and performance dynamics influenced by institutional factors, firm characteristics, and individual traits. Her work explores how career trajectories and startup strategies impact entrepreneurial success, and investigates declining entrepreneurship rates linked to large firm strategies.
