John van der Oost

Prof. John van der Oost is a leading Dutch microbiologist and Professor at the Department of Microbiology, Wageningen University & Research. He leads the Bacterial Genetics group within the Laboratory of Microbiology. His research pioneered CRISPR-Cas systems, particularly demonstrating RNA-guided DNA targeting in prokaryotes, foundational for genome editing technologies.
