John Younce

Dr. John Younce serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurology at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine. His clinical practice focuses on movement disorders, particularly Parkinson's disease and related conditions. He maintains an active research program investigating deep brain stimulation mechanisms and clinical applications, with particular expertise in neuroimaging techniques for neuromodulation.

Dr. Younce completed his medical education at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine, followed by an Adult Neurology Residency at Barnes-Jewish Hospital/Washington University in St. Louis, and a Fellowship in Movement Disorders at Washington University in St. Louis.

His research interests center on deep brain stimulation clinical prediction, outcomes, and mechanisms, with significant work on neuroimaging applications for neuromodulation including resting-state functional MRI. His clinical interests include Parkinson's disease management, deep brain stimulation for movement disorders, and botulinum toxin injections for dystonia, hemifacial spasm, and spasticity.
