Dr. John Williams is a Professor and Head of the Department of Electrical, Electronic and Power Engineering at Aston University, part of the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences. His research focuses on photonics and optical technologies.
Education: PhD in Physics from Imperial College London (1990), PgCert in Teaching and Learning from Aston University (1999).
Research interests include fiber Bragg grating design and fabrication, microwave photonics, ultralow power wireless sensor networks, and optical sensing applications. His work bridges fundamental optical physics with practical engineering applications.
