- Education: B.Sc. in Wildlife Ecology (Michigan State University), M.Sc. in Evolutionary Biology, and Ph.D. in Paleontology (University of Michigan)
Dr. Whitlock’s research integrates paleontology, anatomy, and ecology to study sauropod dinosaurs. Recent publications examine rebbachisaurid skeletal pneumatization, sauropod cranial osteology, and innovative visualization methods for cladistics. His work often involves collaborative projects with students, analyzing dinosaur growth patterns and feeding behavior.
His projects span the Morrison Formation in Utah and Colorado, southern Argentina, and the Carnegie Museum of Natural History, where he contributes to vertebral fossae nomenclature and sauropod specimen cataloging. This includes digital databases and taphonomic studies of fossil assemblages.
