John Vetto

Dr. John Vetto is a distinguished Professor of Surgery at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) School of Medicine, specializing in soft tissue surgical oncology with expertise in melanoma, high-risk skin cancer, breast cancer, and sarcomas. He founded OHSU's multidisciplinary breast cancer and clinical melanoma programs and serves on the sarcoma team, maintaining active clinical practice at the OHSU Knight Cancer Institute Surgical Oncology Clinic.

His research focuses on clinical outcomes, multidisciplinary cancer care, cancer education, and tumor immunology, evidenced by extensive publications in high-impact journals. Recent work analyzes isolated limb perfusion, sentinel lymph node metastasis prediction, tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes, and gene expression profiling for melanoma management.
