John Richard Callister is a Senior Lecturer in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Cornell Engineering. With industry experience at General Motors (1985-1993) working on aerodynamics, engine cooling, and the EV-1 electric car, he now teaches automotive engineering courses and advises student teams.
His research focuses on vehicle aeroacoustics, collaborating with PPG Industries to develop acoustic-optimized windows for automobiles and aircraft. Callister advises the Cornell Formula SAE Racing team and previously led hybrid/efficiency vehicle projects. Awards include the Canaan Family Advising Award (2021) and College of Engineering Teaching Excellence Award (2004).
