John Pilate is a Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence at the University of Palermo (Unipa). He teaches courses related to information retrieval, natural language processing, web data analytics, and data science within the School of Engineering. His office hours are held on Wednesdays from 10:00 to 13:00 at ICAR-CNR, Via Ugo La Malfa 153, Palermo, with remote options via Microsoft Teams.
His research interests focus on computer science and artificial intelligence, particularly in web data analysis and semantic technologies. He has consistently taught advanced courses such as Information Retrieval and Natural Language Processing (6 CFU) and Web Data Analytics (6 CFU) across multiple academic years (2011–2027), indicating sustained expertise in these domains.
