John Patrick Leech is a Full Professor at the Department of Interpretation and Translation, University of Bologna, specializing in English cultural studies, translation history, and public memory. He holds a PhD in History from the University of Sussex and has authored over 70 publications. His roles include:
- Member of UNA Europa's Self-Steering Committee on Cultural Heritage
- President of ATRIUM European Cultural Route (2014-2016, 2019-2022)
- Coordinator of METRA research group on translation and interculturality
Research Interests: His work bridges translation history, Irish diaspora studies, and dissonant heritage, with a focus on
- Revolutionary text circulation in 18th-century Europe
- Colonial/postcolonial memory in Britain and Ireland
- Political cosmopolitanism through linguistic mediation
Conference Leadership: Leech has delivered keynote speeches at international events including the 15th International Congress on the Enlightenment (2019) and History and Translation Network (2022), addressing topics such as transnational radical identity and revolutionary proselytism through translation.
