Dr. John Patrick Casellas Connors is an Assistant Professor at Texas A&M University, specializing in human-environment geography. His work focuses on the social and political dimensions of environmental management, food systems, and urban ecology. He holds a Ph.D. in Geography from Arizona State University (2015), an M.A. in Geographic Information Science from Clark University (2007), and a B.A. in Geography from Clark University (2006).
His research interests include political ecology, human-environment interactions, land change science, and climate resilience. He explores how agricultural systems and urbanization impact food security and ecological sustainability. Current projects address wildlife management in suburban landscapes and the resilience of urban food systems during crises like Hurricane Harvey.
Dr. Connors has contributed to over 30 peer-reviewed articles, with recent work analyzing food access post-disasters, water insecurity during the pandemic, and the socio-political dynamics of municipal wildlife management. His research integrates qualitative and quantitative methods, including GIS and participatory mapping.
