John P. McCarty

John P. McCarty serves as a Professor of Biology and Director of Environmental Studies at the University of Nebraska Omaha within the College of Arts and Sciences. Based in Allwine Hall (Office 422G, Lab 103), he maintains active roles in teaching, research administration, and interdisciplinary environmental programming at the Omaha, Nebraska campus.

His primary research focus centers on avian ecology through the Laboratory of Avian Ecology, examining bird behavior, population dynamics, and ecological relationships within environmental systems. This work intersects with broader environmental science through his leadership of the Environmental Studies program, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches to sustainability and ecosystem analysis.
