John P. Lowery serves as Professor and Chief of Pediatrics at Pacific University College of Optometry, where he has been a faculty member since 1998. He also directs the Oregon Lions Statewide Low Vision Clinic and advises the Amigos (Student VOSH) group.

He integrates public health principles into pediatric optometry practice, particularly through his statewide low vision clinic for visually impaired children.
As Chief of Pediatrics for Pacific University EyeClinics, he oversees clinical training while leading global vision care initiatives. His educational leadership extends to courses in human development, clinical procedures, and public health within the optometry curriculum.
Outside academia, Dr. Lowery pursues photography, astronomy, and outdoor activities with his family.
