John McMaine

John McMaine is an Associate Extension Professor in the Department of Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering at the University of Kentucky, Martin-Gatton College of Agriculture, Food and Environment. His work focuses on developing climate resilience solutions through sustainable water resource management and green infrastructure. Dr. McMaine holds a Ph.D. from Oklahoma State University, an M.S. from University of Kentucky, and a B.S. from University of Kentucky, all in Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering.

His research interests center on urban water resources, including stormwater management during extreme weather events, low-impact development strategies, and pollutant transport dynamics. He employs community-engaged approaches to solve real-world environmental challenges through collaborative stakeholder partnerships.

Dr. McMaine's publications demonstrate a strong focus on sustainable agricultural practices, water quality management, and technological innovations like remote sensing and machine learning applications in environmental science. His recent work emphasizes practical solutions for soil health improvement, nutrient management, and climate adaptation strategies in agricultural systems.
