John McCall is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Special Education, Rehabilitation, and Counseling at Auburn University's College of Education. His research focuses on adolescent mental health, substance abuse, and the psychological impacts of social media use.
His recent work explores topics such as non-suicidal self-injury in online communities (Reddit), cannabis use trends among undergraduates during the pandemic, and self-regulated learning in digital environments. McCall's research integrates thematic analysis and behavioral epidemiology.
