John Marshall

John Marshall, DBA, serves as an Instructor at Michigan State University's School of Packaging, returning to his alma mater (BS in Packaging, 1997) with 20 years of industry experience in global fast-moving consumer goods companies including Sara Lee Foods, Brach's Confections, Godiva Chocolatier, Kraft Heinz, PepsiCo, and Mars Wrigley Confections.

Marshall's research focuses on sustainable packaging solutions, innovation management, and consumer experience design. His doctoral dissertation examined front-end innovation in craft beer breweries through design thinking, while his industry work pioneered the Heinz Ketchup Dip & Squeeze® package—enhancing consumer functionality through dual-mode dispensing. His expertise spans Food & Beverage and Health & Wellness packaging sectors, with emphasis on commercializing sustainable solutions.
