John Maclachlan

John Maclachlan is an Industry Professor in McMaster's School of Earth, Environment & Society with research expertise in glacial systems analysis. His work employs geomatics and sedimentology to reconstruct ice dynamics in diverse environments from Iceland to Peru.

Current field investigations document sediment pathways in karst systems, glacial landsystem evolution in Cordillera Blanca, and erosional patterns along the Niagara Escarpment using drone photogrammetry. Maclachlan integrates these research themes into experiential learning courses on sustainability, regional geography, and glacial environments.
