John M. Chadam is a Professor of Mathematics at the University of Pittsburgh, affiliated with the Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences. His research focuses on Applied Analysis and Mathematical Finance, with particular emphasis on nonlinear partial differential equations (PDEs), free boundary problems, and their applications in finance, environmental modeling, and risk management. He holds a PhD from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and has been supported by an NSF grant (DMS-0707953). His teaching includes graduate courses in Mathematical Finance and Actuarial Mathematics.
Chadam's work bridges theoretical analysis and practical applications, such as modeling American options, mortgage prepayment, and bioremediation processes. He collaborates extensively, publishing in high-impact journals like SIAM and Mathematical Finance. His recent contributions include studies on convexity properties of exercise boundaries and inverse problems in finance.
He advises on graduate programs and has contributed to interdisciplinary research through the Mathematics Research Center at the University of Pittsburgh.
