Professor John Lattanzio is affiliated with the School of Physics and Astronomy at Monash University. His research focuses on stellar astrophysics and stellar nucleosynthesis, particularly in red giants, thermally pulsing AGB stars, and the chemical evolution of galaxies. He leads projects such as Calibrating cosmology: the near-field approach to galaxy formation and Stellar Nucleosynthesis: Polluting the galaxy, funded by entities like the Australian Research Council.
Recent publications include studies on nucleosynthetic yields, s-process enhanced stars, and gamma-ray burst host galaxy absorbers. His work contributes to the understanding of chemical enrichment in the Milky Way, Super-AGB stars, and true Population III stars. He also develops stellar evolution tutorials and educational movies for astrophysics courses like ASP1022 and ASP3012.
