John Joseph Mitchell

John Joseph Mitchell is a Research Fellow in Physical Activity Epidemiology at University College London (UCL), based within the Department of Targeted Intervention, Division of Surgery. He holds an honorary Research Fellow position in UCL's Primary Care & Population Health. His research focuses on daily movement behaviors, sleep, and their relationship to cancer risk, using large-scale epidemiological studies funded by Cancer Research UK (CRUK). He also contributes to teaching biostatistics and supervises MSc students at UCL.

• Positions: Postdoctoral Research Fellow (2024–present), Department of Targeted Intervention; Honorary Research Fellow (Primary Care & Population Health).

His research integrates physical activity patterns, sleep metrics, and population health data to identify modifiable risk factors for cancer. He collaborates across disciplines within the Institute of Sport, Exercise & Health and the Division of Surgery.
