John F. Beeler is a Professor in the Department of History at the University of Alabama, within the College of Arts & Sciences. He holds a PhD from the University of Illinois (1991). His research focuses on Military and Naval History, European History, and the Social and Cultural History of Victorian Britain. He is currently working on the project Alexander, Effie, and their Worlds: Life, Love, and Work in a Victorian Scots Gentry Family.
