John E. Blendell is a Professor of Materials Engineering at Purdue University's College of Engineering. Prior to joining Purdue in August 2005, he served as a Materials Research Engineer and R&D Leader in the Ceramic Division of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) from 1983–2005. He held postdoctoral research fellowships at MIT (1980–1983) and the Max Planck Institute for Metal Research in Stuttgart, Germany (1970–1980).
