John Dave Aquino holds the position of Associate Professor at Central Luzon State University and concurrently pursues graduate studies as a member of the Preston Lab at Linacre College, University of Oxford. His research focuses on plant immunity mechanisms, particularly the role of RNA-binding proteins (RBPs) in plant disease resistance. He investigates how RNA-binding metabolic enzymes influence immune responses to develop novel disease control strategies for economically vital crops.
Affiliations include SEAMEO Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture as a PhD Research Scholar, and the DOST-Science Education Institute as a Foreign Graduate Scholar. His work aims to characterize orthologs of key proteins in rice (monocot) and tomato (dicot) to enhance crop resistance against pathogens.
